(Illegal) Immigrants march for their rights.
This was the headline today in the increasingly absurd media.
Last year I wrote a number of funny articles for April Fools Day and was considering writing some more this year. However, current events has beat me to the punch. I wanted to write what should be considered humerous but find to my amazement that society has once again embraced the absurd. I could write a absurd article “Group defends child pornographers and terrorists but not Christians,” but I can’t, because the ALCU has already done this. I could write an article “politicians uneasy about spying on people trying to kill us.” but the Democratic party is alreay doing that. I again could write “school admits terrorists out to destroy Democracy but not soldiers protecting Democracy,” but again, Yale beat me to the punch.
But let us go back to the rally for illegals. Again nowhere in the article was the word illegal or undocumented anywhere in the text. “We want the same rights as everyone else.” said one illegal at the rally. If that sounds good, why stop there, why not give everyone in the continent the same rights? In effect that is not too far removed. If anyone who crosses the border gets these rights and the borders are open, why the hell not? But that would sound absurd, so the story was not covered that way. What did not lead the article was this sign, “This is our continent, you stupid Americans.” that one demonstrator carried. Theirs was not a lone voice. For some reason that was the last line of the article. One group is trying to take over our country, another is trying to destroy it, however, the media ignores both threats.
Absurd??…. you bet.
Or, at least it should be.
And isn’t that the problem?
It should be considered absurd that illegals would even think they have rights, but liberals and the lying media (whick conveniently leaves out the word illegal) has America believeing otherwise. It should be absurd that anyone would call a US president in wartime a Nazi, but they do. It should be absurd that someone can rape a kid and get off free, but they do. It should be absurd that a large segment of the American population appeases a group that openly is hostile to American values, but they do. It should be absurd that some liberals and Democrats care more about criminal and terrorists rights then the rights of the victims, but they do.
The question that must be asked is what will be the damage to this country of this not-so-funny comedy of the absurd? Can a country whose values embrace the absurd remain a great country for long?
