Shared plight fosters sociability
Barry Robinson's one-hour commute to his Baltimore job stretched to four hours and he consoled himself with a stop at Corned Beef Row for "a big one" from Attman's. With the aftermath of this weekend's snowstorm lying heavy over the region, countless thousands of Marylanders were left inconvenienced, aggravated and just plain stuck.

Day Late and a Tanker Short: Royal Navy Fights Somali Pirates
Filed under: — Robert Farrow @ 11:59 pm

Crossposted from Flopping Aces

By now, it shouldn’t be news to anyone that the waters around Somalia abound with modern day pirates. NATO, Russia, US, you name it…seems like most of the countries in the world are sending ships to confont the Somali pirates (who are interestingly enough tied to Al Queda). Today, the Royal Navy actually got into a high seas shootout with some of the pirates. Sadly, they did not get the pirates who managed to captured a tanker loaded with chemicals the day before.

Franken files lawsuit for contact list of “rejected absentee ballot” voters

Apparently Al thinks the rejected absentee voters, whose ballots were rejected for sundry reasons, need to be contacted to find out the specifics of why their ballots didn’t count… and he’s filed a lawsuit to do just that.

The latest twist in Minnesota’s U.S. Senate recount came this morning, when the Al Franken campaign hit Ramsey County with a lawsuit, seeking the names of voters whose absentee ballots were rejected.

The DFLer’s campaign hopes to force counties across the state to cough up the lists of rejected voters who, if later found eligible, could tip the balance in the closest Senate race in the country, between Fanken and incumbent Repubilcan U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman.

Marc Elias, lead recount attorney for the Franken campaign, said that both Ramsey and Hennepin counties had already rejected its request, forcing the campaign to take legal action.

His justification for such a move? It seems the Franken crowd have found a woman who’s signature doesn’t match that of her “pre-stroke” signature.

Is this guy banking on a vast amount of “strokes” in the electorate??

Finally:

Obama: “Just a guy in my neighborhood” translated in Obama’speak means “family friend”, per Ayers

Another of Obama’s odd perspective of “truth” and “transparency” with the US electorate has been laid exposed in the latest update re’release of Bill Ayers’ 2001 book, “Fugitive Days,” .

He’ll [Ayers] appear Friday on “Good Morning America” to promote the re-issue of his book this week. The Tribune obtained a copy of the updated material.

In it, Ayers — who did not respond to requests for comment — summarized his relationship with Obama: “[W]e had served together on the board of a foundation, knew one another as neighbors and family friends, held an initial fund-raiser at my house, where I’d made a small donation to his earliest political campaign.”

On the campaign trail, Obama dismissed Ayers as “a guy who lives in my neighborhood” and “somebody who worked on education issues in Chicago that I know.” Among “family friends”, one would think being dismissed as so casual would cut one to the quick. But not Ayers, who “laments” his friendship with Obama being an issue.

“The more serious point is that Obama was asked once more to defend something that ought to be at the very heart of democracy: the importance of talking to many people in this complicated and wildly diverse society, of listening with the possibility of learning something new, of speaking with the possibility of persuading or influencing others. … In a robust and sophisticated democracy, political leaders, indeed, all of us, would seek out ways to talk with many people who hold dissenting, even radical ideas.”

Personally, I think “talking” with self admitted Marxist/Communists who hold with the Rosa Luxemburg views on education, and considering the same “family friends” is a huge gap… But what the heck do I and 47% of the US population who did not fall under the Obama spell know? We’re “distractors” when it comes to examining just who are Obama’s “family friends” and business associates.

Lest any of our friendly Obama’ites miscontrue the import of this, and cry *distraction* again, the Obama-Ayers relationship has nothing to do with his Weather Underground days, but everything to do with Obama’s agreement with Ayers on a “social and economic justice” educational agenda. And to promote that socialist agenda, there are all too many teachers willing to tell their students who is “on their side” instead of promoting independent thinking.

But thanks, Obama, for making your relationship clear. Whoops…. I mean, thank you William Ayers for outing Obama and the real “truth”.

Obviously, in the interests of political expediency and personal promotion, Obama is willing to even cast “family friends” aside as no more than a piece of lint to achieve his goal.

He’s just lucky that his socialist buds find it just dandy to be a piece of lint… because having a “family friend” in the Oval Office can come in quite handy for their own agendas.

UPDATE: I see Boston Herald’s Jules Crittenen has done a link here, giving me a “neo-con” pan review. Or how was it he put it?

Still just not getting it, hopelessly slavish to the necon media machine:….

I find myself in the illustrious company of Michelle Malkin, HotAir, MacsMind, RedState, Protein Wisdom and Tim Blair in that conservative to conservative cyber slap. My first reaction is, I sure pick better company than Obama….

What I find completely disheartening about Mr. Crittenden is that he still misses the point of the Obama-Ayers link, and Obama’s very aggressive educational agenda. Or then, perhaps… being a Massachusetts denizen, he’s already used to the proliferation of that “social and economic justice” stuff.

Ravens Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Ravens are banking that Jim Zorn will continue the development of Joe Flacco into an elite franchise quarterback.

Zorn, who was the head coach for the Washington Redskins the past two seasons, was hired by Baltimore to become its quarterbacks coach on Jan. 30.

Although Zorn struggled as a head coach, the Ravens were impressed by his experience: 11 seasons as an NFL quarterback, 11 seasons as a respected NFL quarterback coach and a familiarity with their offense.

"That's a great resume for us," Harbaugh said.

Zorn replaces Hue Jackson, who joined the Oakland Raiders as their offensive coordinator. Baltimore chose Zorn because he has a history of mentoring young quarterbacks like Flacco.
