CRIME SCENES Police apologize to injured boy
Alvin Williams' summer is pretty much over. The 5-year-old can't run around with his friends. Instead, he sits in a folding chair on the front porch of his grandfather's house off York Road in North Baltimore, his broken right leg wrapped in a cast and propped up on another chair. His leg was broken when a Baltimore police cruiser ran over it last week. This week, a top department officer paid Alvin a visit. Lt. Col. Michael J. Andrew brought chocolate cake, Adam Jones and Matt Wieters bobbleheads, a patch that made the child an honorary police officer and the promise of tickets to an Orioles game.

Stabbing of her brother 8 years ago colors mayor's view of issue

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake rarely speaks of the day eight years ago when the city's dangers literally fell through her front door. But her brother's stabbing shaped the way she views violent crime and has deepened her empathy for victims and their families.

Election May Determine More Than Just Who Will Be President
Filed under: — Robert Farrow @ 10:37 pm

Brujo Blanco

I did not write the following and I do not know who the author is. It was sent to me and really tells us what has and may happen:

What would you say if I gave you 11 reasons why the elections in 2010 will be the most important in the history of the United States ?

1. What if I had told you in October 2008, before the last presidential election, that before Barack Obama’s first 100 days in office, the government would be in control of both the mortgage and the banking industries? That 19 of America ’s largest banks would be forced to undergo stress tests by the federal government which would determine if they were insufficiently capitalized, so they must be supervised by the government?

Would you have said, “C’mon, that will never happen in America ..”

Brujo says: This was the first shot over our bow and the President of the USA B. Hussein Obama was successful. He took a shot at controlling out money. My question is: If these banks that were “rescued” by the socialists in our country recover will they be released and allowed to function in a free enterprise system like they should have been doing all along? Will the government retain control of these institutions?

2. What if I had told you that within Barack Obama’s first 100 days in office the federal government would be the largest shareholder in the US Big-Three automakers: GM, and Chrysler? That the government would kick out the CEO’s of these companies and appoint hand-picked executives with zero experience in the auto industry and that executive compensation would be determined, not by a Board of Directors, but by the government?

Would you have said, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!”

Brujo says: This was another good shot at our system. In this country for years if a free market activity screwed up it went down and that was the name of that game. Now we have a government run auto industry. Government does not play fair. If government moves further government will be in competition with private industry. Think about it: Does government pay rent or property taxes on the buildings they occupy.

3. What if I had told you that Barack Obama would appoint 21 Czars, without congressional approval, accountable only to him, not to the voters, who would have control over a wide range of US policy decisions. That there would be a Stimulus Accountability Czar, an Urban Czar, a Compensation Czar, an Iran Czar, an Auto Industry Czar, a Cyber Security Czar, an Energy Czar, a Bank Bailout Czar, and more than a dozen other government bureaucrats with unchecked regulatory powers over US domestic and foreign policy.

Would you have said, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!”

Brujo says: Remember history and remember that a Czar was Royalty in Russia and the Czar was an absolute ruler. Now since this list has been put together there have been other Czars regarding other matters put in place. One has been the Diversity Czar. This new Czar has already suggested that if one is running a talk radio show that the station must pay taxes amounting to the gross income of the radio show. What kind of business can exist with that?

4. What if I had told you that the federal deficit would be $915 billion in the first six months of the Obama presidency - with a projected annual deficit of $1.75 trillion - triple the $454.8 billion in 2008, for which the previous administration was highly criticized by Obama and his fellow Democrats. That congress would pass Obama’s $3.53 trillion federal budget for fiscal 2010… That the projected deficit over the next ten years would be greater than $10 trillion.

Would you have said, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!”

Brujo says: What government has ever spent itself into prosperity? Can you think of just one. Government does not make nor does it have to turn a profit. Government just takes what it needs from the people. Government does not create wealth in only consumes wealth. Government is not a source of money. People that work are the source of money.

5. What if I had told you that the Obama Justice Department would order FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high-value detainees captured on the battlefield and held at US military detention facilities in Afghanistan . That Obama would order the closing of the Guantanamo detention facility with no plan for the disposition of the 200-plus individuals held there. That several of the suspected terrorists at Guantanamo would be sent to live in freedom in Bermuda at the expense of the US government. That our returning US veterans would be labeled terrorists and put on a watch list.

Would you have said, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!”

Brujo says: To me this demonstrates what side Hussein his really on. He is on the other side. If it opposes the USA he is in favor of it. Keep in mind that only POWs have rights. Detainees captured on the battle field not in uniform and/not representing a government are not POWs and are not entitled to any right under the Geneva Convention. I believe a policy of providing civil rights to terrorists is a real problem. I suspect that the motive for requiring this is to lay the ground work for massive prosecution of the people that are keeping us safe. Releasing terrorists will end up being a means of producing more dead victims.

6. What if I had told you that the federal government would seek powers to seize key companies whose failures could jeopardize the financial system. That a new regulatory agency would be proposed by Obama to control loans, credit cards, mortgage-backed securities, and other financial products offered to the public.

Would you have said, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!!”

Brujo says: What is really scary about the feds getting the power to seize key companies is that they will be the feds will decide who is to be seized. Think about that. If you are a high ranked politician and you have a politically enemy that is successful in business (or not) you can simply have the feds rule his firm a threat to the financial well-being of the country and seized. Also, the feds may end up in absolute control of money to be loaned and stifle the initiation of any type of private enterprise they choose.

7. What if I had told you that Obama would travel to the Middle East, bow before the Saudi king, and repeatedly apologize for America’s past actions. That he would travel to Latin America where he would warmly greet Venezuela ’s strongman Hugo Chavez and sit passively in the audience while Nicaraguan Marxist thug Daniel Ortega charged America with terrorist aggression in Central America .

Would you have said, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!!”

Brujo says: Prior to these actions I thought that Obama was a socialist. Now I believe that he is a communist and he will, if allowed to do so, take over this country. Look what he has done to Honduras. Honduras had a left wing president attempt to take over the country using the military to stuff the ballot boxes. He acted in direct violation of the Honduran constitution. The sitting government legislative body acting in concert with their Supreme Court legally deposed the sitting president for violating the law. This was not a violent action. Hussein, Ortega, and Chavez acted against the legally in place government and are attempting to force the Honduran government to reseat the president that acted illegally. Of course all of these players are lefties. Again Obama has shown his true colors and they are not red, white, and blue.

8. Okay, now what if I were to tell you that Obama wants to dismantle conservative talk radio through the imposition of a new “Fairness Doctrine.” That he wants to curtail the First Amendment rights of those who may disagree with his policies via internet blogs, cable news networks, or advocacy ads. That most major network television and most newspapers will only sing his phrases like state-run media in communist countries?

Would you say, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!!!”

Brujo says: There are those that say based on the title of this program that it would make it fair. Conservative talk radio makes money for sponsors. Liberal talk radio traditionally has made no money for sponsors. Initially the doctrine was to be placed on radio and then it moved to TV. Now there is talk about it going after the internet. The latest in curtailing talk radio is to tax it out of existence. The tax being proffered by the diversity Czar is to be equal to the gross of the show. What business can survive under such a destructive tax?

9. What if I were to tell you that the Obama Justice Department is doing everything it can to limit your Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. That the federal government wants to reinstate the so-called assault weapons ban which would prohibit the sale of any type of firearm that requires the shooter to pull the trigger every time a round is fired. That Obama’s Attorney General wants to eliminate the sale of virtually all handguns and ammunition, which most citizens choose for self-defense.

Would you say, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!!!”

Brujo says: There is talk about having all tax payers list there firearms on the tax returns and a $50.00 tax per firearm. Also, there is some talk about a law that authorizes the feds to enter your home at anytime to make sure that your firearms are properly secured inside the home and kept away from children. There is also some talk about having everyone on the terrorism watch list not allowed to have firearms. That is simple in that they only have to put you on the list and you have a problem. I don’t know about you but I do not have a cop posted in my home in case of an intrusion. I have a firearm.

10. What if I were to tell you that the Obama plan is to eliminate states rights guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment and give the federal government sweeping new powers over policies currently under the province of local and state governments and voted on by the people. That Obama plans to control the schools, energy production, the environment, health care, and the wealth of every US citizen.

Would you say, “C’mon, that will never happen in America!”

Brujo says: Most liberal politicians on the federal level do not like the 10th Amendment because it allows the states to have an enforce their own laws independent from the feds. The new hate crimes statutes promise to change that.

11. What if I were to tell you that the president, the courts, and the federal government have ignored the US Constitution and have seized powers which the founders of our country fought to restrict. That our last presidential election may have been our last truly free election for some time to come. That our next presidential election may look similar to the one recently held in Iran … (And maybe under review by ACORN.)

I know, I know what you will say. “That will never happen in America!”

Brujo says: ACORN has really screwed up the voting situation and they are going to have more and more authority. I suspect that they may be one of the participants in Obama’s Civilian Security Force. If the security force comes to be, and I really hope that I am wrong, the restriction on free speech and all other individual rights will be in danger.

If we don’t do everything in our power to stop this madness in 2010…

May God have mercy on our worthless souls.

Pass this on to every freedom loving American you know.

Brujo Blanco’s Summary: What these words have represented as far as I am concerned what may be and not what will be. The real problem with what the lefties are doing is that they have hit us with so much change we may be overwhelmed. I suspect the plan is to break us financially and remove or substantially alter the individual rights. The government seizure of all health care is upon us. If it goes through it will mean financial disaster for the entire country. The political elites will not feel the bite in the least. In 2010 we must get out and vote (if that is still allowed) and vote for those that will preserve and/or return us to the true American way.

Contra pereza dilegencia.

Nose tackle Terrence Cody, a second-round pick, passed his conditioning test Wednesday and was cleared to practice with the team.

Cody said he weighs 350 pounds.

"I'll have to admit that I was surprised this morning when he passed the conditioning test," said coach John Harbaugh, who declined to say if the Ravens put a number on what they want Cody to weigh. "But we have it on tape that will verify the results of the test. Obviously, it shows you that he was in shape. He's a little heavy right now. He's got to lose little weight, but that will happen in training camp. But the fact that he's in shape is important. That shows you that he's done the work."

The hot topic surrounding Cody since the Ravens selected him has been his eating habits.
