Shared plight fosters sociability
Barry Robinson's one-hour commute to his Baltimore job stretched to four hours and he consoled himself with a stop at Corned Beef Row for "a big one" from Attman's. With the aftermath of this weekend's snowstorm lying heavy over the region, countless thousands of Marylanders were left inconvenienced, aggravated and just plain stuck.

G.E. World’s 6th Largest Corporation Unmasked as Obama Front Group

Not only do they profit billions from Obama’s policies, they shut out dissenting voices on their television networks!

Obama and the Democrats love to slam Fox News for presenting opposing points of view. So, it’s no surprise that Obama prefers to give interviews to NBC which he feels is more sympathetic to his cause. NBC has been in the tank for Obama from the beginning.

Further proof of NBC’s favoritism came this week when the network rejected the following ad from the League of American Voters:

The ad NBC and Obama don’t want you to see!

Why? Follow the Money!

How do we explain this favoritism? It’s more than the usual liberal bias. It’s all about money. NBC is owned by General Electric. G.E.’s CEO, Jeffrey Immelt is on Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board and is a big supporter of Obama’s economic policy. That’s not surprising since G.E. stands to rake in billions under Obama’s green energy and health care plans.

And G.E.’s execs aren’t even discrete about it:

Leaked e-mail shows how GE puts the government to work for GE
By: Timothy P. Carney
Washington Examiner
August 26, 2009

“The intersection between GE’s interests and government action is clearer than ever,” General Electric Vice Chairman John G. Rice wrote in an Aug. 19 e-mail to colleagues.

Rice was calling on his co-workers to join the General Electric Political Action Committee. “GEPAC is an important tool that enables GE employees to collectively help support candidates who share the values and goals of GE.”

The full letter suggests that “share the values and goals of GE” really means “support policies that profit the company.”

Steve Milloy, a pro-free market investor at the Free Enterprise Action Fund, obtained this e-mail and says it reveals General Electric for what it really is. “GE is lobbying to become the biggest rent seeker this country has ever seen,” Milloy told this column. Rent seeking is using government legislation or regulation to generate private profits the free market wouldn’t provide.

“On climate change,” Rice wrote, “we were able to work closely with key authors of the Waxman-Markey climate and energy bill, recently passed by the House of Representatives. If this bill is enacted into law it would benefit many GE businesses.”

Democrats used to complain about Halliburton’s influence and profit from government connections during the Bush years. But Halliburton, at #167 on the Fortune 500 list pales in comparison to the impact that #6 G.E. can wield. And if our liberal friends would dispute that then, answer me this: how many news networks does Halliburton own?

Ravens Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Ravens are banking that Jim Zorn will continue the development of Joe Flacco into an elite franchise quarterback.

Zorn, who was the head coach for the Washington Redskins the past two seasons, was hired by Baltimore to become its quarterbacks coach on Jan. 30.

Although Zorn struggled as a head coach, the Ravens were impressed by his experience: 11 seasons as an NFL quarterback, 11 seasons as a respected NFL quarterback coach and a familiarity with their offense.

"That's a great resume for us," Harbaugh said.

Zorn replaces Hue Jackson, who joined the Oakland Raiders as their offensive coordinator. Baltimore chose Zorn because he has a history of mentoring young quarterbacks like Flacco.
